Our approach

Recruiters for rail and transit project teams

Rail construction may involve work within operating corridors, station settings, rights of way or supporting facilities. We ask how candidates have planned access, coordinated the construction sequence, communicated with project stakeholders and managed interfaces with active operations.

Our approach

Roles across transportation construction

We recruit Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, Estimators, Foremen, schedulers and construction executives. Search criteria distinguish rail or transit experience from general highway and building construction when the employer needs a particular project background.

Our approach

Evaluate planning, phasing and coordination

Candidate conversations cover site constraints, work windows where relevant, subcontractor coordination, schedule responsibility, field documentation and safety processes. We confirm required project-specific training or access qualifications with the employer rather than presenting them as universal.

Our approach

Local and travel-ready rail construction staff

We have a strong candidate network in every market we cover and can reach professionals beyond the project area. We recruit local candidates willing to travel 100% as well as nationwide candidates willing to travel 100% for suitable construction assignments.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions.

What rail and transit construction projects do you cover?

We recruit for rail and transit construction teams across applicable infrastructure and facility work. We shape each search around the project setting and delivery responsibilities.

Which roles do you recruit for transit construction?

We recruit Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, Estimators, Foremen, schedulers and project controls staff. Executive and assistant-level searches can also be scoped.

How do you screen candidates for rail experience?

We ask about the candidate's rail or transit scope, project environment and role in coordination and phasing. The employer's access, operating and schedule needs guide the evaluation.

Can you recruit traveling rail construction leaders?

Yes. We can search locally and reach candidates willing to travel 100% from their market or nationwide candidates willing to travel 100%. We discuss the assignment before sharing candidates.

Are rail safety qualifications the same on every project?

Project access and qualification rules can differ by owner, employer and jurisdiction. We confirm the specific requirements for each opening rather than assuming one rule applies everywhere.

Do you require an advance recruiting payment?

No professional recruiting fee is due unless we place a candidate you hire. The signed recruiting agreement controls the search terms.

Relocation and travel

Relocation Placements

Over the last few years we've filled more and more positions with candidates willing to relocate on their own, or with minimal initial relocation help from the client. We always fill with local candidates when possible. But relocation placements are a specialty of ours, and we know how to make them work for clients who are committed to filling the position.

Placement protection

12-month replacement guarantee

On standard (non-reduced) fee agreements, every placement comes with a 3-month free candidate replacement guarantee. From months 4 to 12, we'll still replace the candidate at half off. That's a full year of coverage. We've never needed to use the extended guarantee.

Extended coverage applies to eligible placements billed and paid at the full standard fee under the signed client recruiting agreement.

Three-Month Free Replacement

If a placement billed and paid at the full standard fee separates for a qualifying reason within the first three months, Construction Headhunters will conduct one replacement search for the same or substantially similar position at no additional professional recruiting fee.

Months Four Through Twelve: Half-Fee Replacement

If the hire separates during months four through twelve, the client receives one replacement at half the standard professional fee. Applies only to original placements billed and paid at the full standard fee.

Eligibility, exclusions, notification requirements, payment requirements, and replacement terms are governed by the signed client recruiting agreement.
