Our approach

Recruiting before and alongside the build

Sitework and excavation can include grading, earthmoving, access, drainage, and utility coordination. We learn how the package connects to the overall project, what work is self-performed, and how the hire will coordinate sequencing with other teams.

Our approach

Sitework project and field positions

We recruit Project Managers, estimators, Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, general foremen, and foremen. Search criteria distinguish office-side quantity and planning responsibilities from field production and crew supervision.

Our approach

Assess logistics and production experience

We discuss how candidates have planned site access, coordinated equipment and crews, tracked quantities, and worked around project constraints. The employer's scope determines whether civil, building-site, or another related background is most relevant.

Our approach

Local coverage and travel-ready leaders

Our network includes construction professionals in the markets we cover, including local candidates willing to travel 100%. Nationwide candidates willing to travel 100% can broaden a search when a site needs a full-time traveler.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions.

Which sitework and excavation employers do you support?

We recruit for sitework and excavation contractors and construction teams hiring project and field leaders. We clarify the package, project setting, and self-performed work before defining the search.

What sitework positions can you recruit?

Searches include Project Managers, estimators, Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, general foremen, and foremen. We align the role with the office or field responsibilities the employer needs covered.

How do you evaluate excavation candidates?

We ask about site scopes, crew and equipment coordination, access planning, production responsibilities, and interfaces with other project teams. That context helps distinguish the experience needed for a specific site.

Can you find sitework leaders willing to travel?

Yes. We can reach local candidates willing to travel 100% and nationwide candidates willing to travel 100%. The project location and travel expectations are reviewed before an introduction.

What information helps define a sitework search?

Share the work scope, site conditions, project phase, equipment and crew structure, and how the position coordinates with vertical construction. We use these details to target relevant experience.

Is there an upfront recruiting charge?

A standard contingency search carries no upfront professional recruiting fee. The signed agreement sets the fee and terms for a qualifying hire.

Relocation and travel

Relocation Placements

Over the last few years we've filled more and more positions with candidates willing to relocate on their own, or with minimal initial relocation help from the client. We always fill with local candidates when possible. But relocation placements are a specialty of ours, and we know how to make them work for clients who are committed to filling the position.

Placement protection

12-month replacement guarantee

On standard (non-reduced) fee agreements, every placement comes with a 3-month free candidate replacement guarantee. From months 4 to 12, we'll still replace the candidate at half off. That's a full year of coverage. We've never needed to use the extended guarantee.

Extended coverage applies to eligible placements billed and paid at the full standard fee under the signed client recruiting agreement.

Three-Month Free Replacement

If a placement billed and paid at the full standard fee separates for a qualifying reason within the first three months, Construction Headhunters will conduct one replacement search for the same or substantially similar position at no additional professional recruiting fee.

Months Four Through Twelve: Half-Fee Replacement

If the hire separates during months four through twelve, the client receives one replacement at half the standard professional fee. Applies only to original placements billed and paid at the full standard fee.

Eligibility, exclusions, notification requirements, payment requirements, and replacement terms are governed by the signed client recruiting agreement.
