Our approach

Steel and metals scopes need relevant experience

Project teams may need leaders for structural framing, fabricated components, stairs, railings, or other miscellaneous metal packages. We ask how the opening connects shop coordination, site conditions, erection sequence, and the wider construction schedule.

Our approach

Project and field roles for steel contractors

We recruit Project Managers, estimators, Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and steel foremen. The search distinguishes people who lead estimating or project coordination from those whose work centers on field installation.

Our approach

Assess shop-to-field coordination

We discuss candidate experience with drawings, procurement handoffs, delivery planning, field access, and coordination with the general contractor and connected trades. The employer's actual package and reporting structure guide which experience matters most.

Our approach

Local and traveling steel construction candidates

Our network reaches local construction candidates across the markets we cover, including steel professionals willing to travel 100%. Nationwide candidates willing to travel 100% can also be considered for full-time travel assignments.

Which positions do you recruit in structural steel?

We search for Project Managers, estimators, Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and foremen. A brief can also focus specifically on miscellaneous metals packages.

How do you evaluate steel construction experience?

We discuss a candidate's project responsibilities, coordination between fabrication and site work, delivery planning, and field sequencing. The goal is to understand the work they have personally led.

Can you recruit steel leaders for traveling projects?

Yes. Searches can include local candidates willing to travel 100% and nationwide candidates willing to travel 100%. We confirm travel expectations and assignment fit before presenting candidates.

What should a steel contractor include in a search brief?

How do contingency recruiting fees work?

No upfront professional recruiting fee is due on a standard contingency search. The signed recruiting agreement sets the fee and placement terms.

Relocation and travel

Relocation Placements

Over the last few years we've filled more and more positions with candidates willing to relocate on their own, or with minimal initial relocation help from the client. We always fill with local candidates when possible. But relocation placements are a specialty of ours, and we know how to make them work for clients who are committed to filling the position.

Placement protection

12-month replacement guarantee

On standard (non-reduced) fee agreements, every placement comes with a 3-month free candidate replacement guarantee. From months 4 to 12, we'll still replace the candidate at half off. That's a full year of coverage. We've never needed to use the extended guarantee.

Extended coverage applies to eligible placements billed and paid at the full standard fee under the signed client recruiting agreement.

Three-Month Free Replacement

If a placement billed and paid at the full standard fee separates for a qualifying reason within the first three months, Construction Headhunters will conduct one replacement search for the same or substantially similar position at no additional professional recruiting fee.

Months Four Through Twelve: Half-Fee Replacement

If the hire separates during months four through twelve, the client receives one replacement at half the standard professional fee. Applies only to original placements billed and paid at the full standard fee.

Eligibility, exclusions, notification requirements, payment requirements, and replacement terms are governed by the signed client recruiting agreement.
